... him. Thrusting gingerly, he curved his hands round her shoulders, pressed his body against hers and found his rhythm. Feeling a rush of confidence, he grunted like an animal and took the initiative, thrusting his pelvis with ever-increasing speed and power, pumping into her like his life depended on it. An hour later, spent and exhausted, he collapsed on top of Julie and chortled with joy. He closed his eyes and rubbed his face over her breasts, revelling in the soft, sensual warmth of her body. Then, suddenly, a thought occurred to him that made him gasp. This afternoon he had experienced the three things he desired most in life. His mother had told him that she loved him. He was no longer an undesirable, but a strapping young man with a handsome face. And, best of all, he had had the most amazing sex with the girl of his dreams. ... survived the accident after all. He closed his eyes when a warm golden glow enveloped his entire being. He felt strange, different somehow, as though he was floating on a cloud. He opened his eyes and observed his soundings – everything had vanished. The bed, the hospital room, Julie, they had all gone, vanished into thin air, and he was alone, floating, suspended in a sky-blue void. All was calm and silent around him, but it was a silence and calmness so intense it made his nerves tingle. It felt wonderful and filled him with such euphoria, such a sense of peace and serenity that he knew instinctively he was no longer of the earth. A bright light shone in the distance, radiating such warmth and mysterious aura that Elmer could not help but be drawn towards it. As Elmer began his journey towards the light, a tear trickled down his cheek, but this was not a tear of sadness, nor was it a tear of overwhelming emotion. No, this was a tear of joy, for he knew the life to which he was destined would be far better than the life he had endured on earth.
