... to start. Unlike the movie we saw and rated the week prior, this one wasn't as good- from both a movie guru & a critic's standpoint. So after the movie ended, we both followed each other. But this time instead of meeting up in public, she insisted that I followed her to her place. So I said, "Okay, sounds good." So I followed her maybe about thirty miles clear outside of town. When we pulled up, I couldn't believe my eyes. Iris lives in a rather spacious two-story house, which happens to be along the main highway surrounded by trees and an orchard nearby. So as I got out of my car, I said to het, "Wow, a nice place you've got here." "Thanks," she said, "this house, along with 150 acres of land that I owned, has been in my family for generations." "Oh, reslly?" I asked. "Not that it's any of my business, but who was it that lived here before?" "Actually, it belongs to all of us," she said. "But my parents asked me to house sit for them for a couple of months while my grandfather recovers from a triple-bypasx surgery." "So I take it you don't really live here then, do you?" I said. "And the apple orchard has been a family business for four generations now," she said. "So everytime I'm out here helping out grandpa, I'll show up at the movie theater for my weekly movie rating assignment." "You've mentioned your grandfather was recuperation from a heart bypass surgery, but what about your grandmother if I might ask?" I asked her. "Well," she said, "my grandmother passed away ...
... about ten years ago of terminal cancer." "Oh, I'm so sorry," I said to her with respect. Then as we got up to the door, she said, "That's oksy, but what are you gonna do?" And she was right. So she invites me in through the front door, and into the living room. Before we got started with our rating and reviewing, she asked, "Jeff, could I interest you with something to drink?" "Sure, I'll have domething," I responded. Then she gave me a few choices and said, "I have coffee, tea, soda, wine, or a cold beer." "Okay," I said, "I'll have a cold beer." Then she ssid, "Okay, one cold beer, coming up." So she goes into the kitchen that's connected to both the living room & the dining rooms, then comes back into the living room with a couple of long-neck bottles. So she sat both of our beers down on the wooden coffee table on coaters. "Are yiu ready to discuss the movie we both saw tonight?" "Yes," I said, "let's begin." So we went over the notes that we both took, trying to figure what the overall rating should be. Then the first question that popped out of her was, "How would you rate this movie on a scale of 1 to 4 ☆'s?" "Honestly," I said, "about a two. Although it wasn't bad, it could've been much better for a romantic comedy." "And why would you say that?" Iris ssked. Then I saif, "Well, the story lot really didn't make a whole lot of sense. Second, it was more of a drama than a romantic comedy. And did you notice some of the people left during the movie?" "Oh mybgod, you saw that ...
