... smiled a very pleasant hello. I think from her look that she was surprised I was there. I still don’t think Michelle’s parents really understood what happened between Michelle and me. We had become very close during the time Michelle and I were married. They were like a second set of parents to me and I had missed them terribly the last few months. I hoped that after this, we could get together again. When the music started, a very pretty lady, the maid of honor, walked down the aisle and stepped to the left, awaiting the new bride. Then the wedding march began. Jacqui took my arm in hers and pressed close to me as I watched my beautiful wife walk down the aisle with eyes only for her groom, who was watching and waiting in front of the Church. Michelle was so beautiful in a peach colored, long, flowing dress. I was remembering the time that seemed such a short time ago when she was on my brother’s arm, walking down the aisle toward me in the little chapel in Reno. I couldn’t help it, my tears were falling and I don’t remember any more of the ceremony until I heard my wife say, “I do.” Then, she and Mike looked at each other and kissed. I looked over to Jacqui, sitting beside me, her head on my shoulder and whispered to her, “I love you.” When we got up to leave, I told her it was time for us to go. “You don’t want to stay and say goodbye to Michelle or her parents?” “No, I said goodbye to Michelle this morning and I’m not ready to face her parents yet.” After we got in our car, I took a deep breath and tried to relax. The tears on my cheeks had dried and I asked Jacqui if we could go home. “We planned to stay another night and go home tomorrow.” “I know, but I need to go home now and be with you, back in our house.” “Okay, let’s go pick up our things.” On our drive home, we talked about the night before. I told Jacqui how surprised I was when I felt Michelle’s lips on mine. Jacqui giggled a little and told me, “We hoped so, Michelle and I talked about it, trying to think of the best way to surprise you.” I looked at her, I know the surprise was showing on my face, “Well you succeeded!” Then I asked her, “You really did help her plan it didn’t you?” “Uhunh, it was the most fun I’ve had for a long time!” Then she went on, “I don’t think they have very much sound insulation in ...
