... “kitchen” area that concealed an open bathroom. On the other side he had built the enclosed developing room. This was his space; for himself and was not ever going to be shared with his wife and family. As time went on, he started doing the update business portraits for the two firms he consulted with. Then, he did a few family portraits for Christmas cards. By word of mouth, he had a few photo sessions a week for someone wanting some type of photos; pets, engagements and such. He was enjoying his hobby, feeling alive and warm with the passion he had for finding that “just right” lighting. One day he received a message from a woman named “Diane” who sounded somewhat nervous, asking for an appointment to meet with him about doing some photographs of her. He called her back to set up a time to meet and discuss the photo shoot. That evening after dinner, John met up with Diane at a coffee shop. He sat outside with the family dog, Kicks, and his hot tea. A 1970 butter yellow 280SL Benz pulled up to the curb and he knew it was Diane. Sipping his tea, John watched a few emotions float over her face. He was not sure what emotion was the correct one. Diane closed her eyes and breathed out slowly. Once she regained her composure, she smiled at him. “I am looking for something a little unusual,” she said at last. “Oh! Are you wanting boudoir-type photos for someone?” he asked. “I have never done photos like that, so it could be a little bit of the blind leading the ...
