A strange lethargy left her feeling weak, so much, that her body slumped against the solid form of the male Seraph holding her. She didn’t need to hear the rebel leader’s next words to know exactly what was wrong. “She’s blind… and she’s been poisoned. She dies as I speak.” Anniel let the dark swallow her, hoping that if there was an afterlife, little Gareth would be waiting for her on the other side. She had no idea what would become of her unborn child. He or she had barely existed for a day. The last thing she was conscious of was strong arms cradling her and a gruff voice saying, “I will not let you die.”
