Forty years it had been. Forty years since the dragon Braxias had had his first taste of human meat in nearly a millennium. A sweet girl called Ruby, whose mind now rested inside his own. And in that time, Braxias had caused the downfall of the pathetic human civilization, which was already inches away from destroying itself. It was disorienting, to say the least, that a land that was only rumor the last time he'd had contact with a human was now the center of commerce in the entire world. But it didn't last. Braxias did not mean to bring the human race to the brink of extinction. But when the armies of the world were brought against him, he defended himself. Quite efficiently too, he thought. In this absence of global security, Braxias bred his very own army. Thanks to a genetic bridge created by Ruby, his sons were half-human, half-dragon, all identically tall, with cold blue eyes, black hair, and protected by scales beneath their soft, pale, hairless skin, their chests barren of nipples. The lord of humanity rested in a chamber in his new fortress, carved into what he understood to be a monument to four past leaders of this nation. The chamber was padded with pillows from top to bottom, warmly lit with candles. Two of his sons entered. Despite their identicality, he recognized each one. These two were from the north. "My lord," the one on the left said, "We found one." "What? One what?" the beast questioned eagerly. "See for yourself." Two more of his sons entered, ...

The female had light golden hair, wearing a black T-shirt, those rough blue pants he disliked, and white-toed black boots reminiscent of his first human love, Ruby. This one had glasses and a ring of metal through its nose, another feature the beast dispised. But aside from his displeasure, Braxias looked forward to this one. Her kind were usually rebellious. Feisty. Which made them much more of a pleasure to break. But this one was already broken. It whimpered. "Do not be frightened, human," Braxias brought his neck down, his enormous head the size of his prey."I am salvation from your kind's self-destructive ways. Considering you wiped my kind from the Earth, is it not merciful that I would keep any of you alive? Even breed with you?" "You have your reasons," the girl spat, still refusing to look at her superior. "Is it not ironic that in your primordial state, your kind nearly wiped us out, yet with your weapons of mass destruction, you could not kill me? "Don't think I had anything to do with it. I was born twenty-one years after it happened." "So much knowledge... Where did you learn that?" "There are thousands of us. A city in Canada full of us following the old ways. We're gonna take your scaly ass down." "Where?" the dragon boomed. "WHERE?!" The fleshy thing did not respond. "Very well." Braxias slashed the ropes off his victim with a single ...
