She smiled, knowing her subliminal message had been received. She went back and told Tony that she was going out on a test ride, and then came back to the front of the shop. Bear took her hand and they went out to where the bike was parked. Bear got on and fired the bike up, hitting the throttle a couple times and then helped Leah on the back. Bear took the bike down the street to where he could get on the expressway and open it up some. The bike acted fine and Leah was thoroughly enjoying riding behind Bear. Because it was in the hills that he noticed the problem to begin with, that's where he headed next. As they approached the first hill, which was also the steepest, Bear kept his ear tuned to the bike's engine sounds. The bike climbed the hill with no problem and Bear was happy with the way it was running. At the top of the next hill there was a little pull-off that overlooked the city. It was getting on towards evening by now, and the sun was setting over the city. Bear turned into the pull-off and shut the engine off.
