Jon: Hey dude, good news! Sophieis letting me come back! Guess I'd better try to stop hitting on other girls, right? Rich frowned at the text as he stepped out the mall door and into the hot summer sunshine. Anger welled in him as he thought of Jon moving back in with Sophie, sharing a bed with her, kissing her, touching her... and then suddenly his anger was replaced by sadness. He wasn't perfect, he knew that, and he'd done things he wasn't proud, of but all he wanted was to be with someone. But not just anyone, he wanted Sophie. He knew that wanting his friend's girlfriend was wrong and if someone had come to him with a similar problem he would have told them to step aside, that there was no room in a relationship for a third person. But the fact was he knew what Jon had been doing behind Sophie's back over the last few years and it was far more than Sophie was aware of. Sure, she knew he'd flirted with girls online and Rich knew she had other suspicions, but only he knew the truth. He knew that Jon had cheated on her and lied, and not just to her. He lied all the time, telling people of false accomplishments to make himself look good in their eyes. But the truth was he didn't need to lie , people looked up to him anyway, and to Rich that made what he did worse. Had he been some unsuccessful loser who needed other people's admiration to validate himself then he could have understood it, but he wasn't a loser, he was successful, good looking and someone that others admired. ...

... If only they knew the truth... However, Rich wasn't that person, he wasn't going to start telling people about Jon's lies and indiscretions. He had found out about them himself and if he could then so could all the others who thought Jon was so great. Rich unlocked his phone and typed. Rich: Do you think you can? He knew how Jon would take his text; he knew that he would take it as a friendly jibe, which supported his infidelity. However, it wasn't meant that way. Rich wanted to tell him how he felt about all of it but the bottom line was Jon was his friend and had been for fifteen years. Was he really going to give that away because he was hot for his girlfriend? But was he hot for Sophie? Sure he thought she was pretty and sexy, and sex with her the day before had been amazing, the best he'd had, but it wasn't just about sex. He wanted her. He was falling for her.
