... cut into his steak with enthusiasm. The next afternoon, once Haden got a text from Andrew that he was leaving work and heading for the golf course, she began to get ready to go out. It was all a bit of a hassle. She took a change of clothes that were much more conservative. That way she could change into them prior to coming home if needed. She was also leaving really early. After her experience at Saturn Bar, she knew that she'd be out before any real crowd was going to be at a club, but she didn't want to risk running into Andrew on the way out and him seeing her all dressed up. She wore expensive capri style jeans that hugged every curve, a white strapless top that showed just a tiny bit of her stomach and a black French cut jacket. And of course, her new heels. She did her makeup heavily again. It took her almost an hour to get it right. She copied ideas out of magazines and pictures online, intentionally staying away from things that looked too close to Jules' style. The club was downtown in the Central Business District. She made flirty eyes with one bartender, but she was disappointed when the smoothly shaven young man did nothing more than ask her if she needed a drink. Eleven o'clock rolled around and the place began to fill up. Haden ordered a second gin and tonic. Guys checked her out and she glanced back at a few, but they always looked away quickly. Did she look unapproachable? She knew she looked hot. Why weren't guys approaching her? Then it hit her. She looked down. Her wedding ring. It was flashing brilliantly in the colored moving lights of the club. Haden had been holding her drink with her left hand, letting everyone in the club see it. She moved her hand discreetly under the bar and stared at it. “I'm sorry, Andrew,” she whispered. Then she slipped it off of her finger and tucked it into her purse, down at the bottom. Less than a minute later, a guy approached her. He was blonde and blue eyed and smelled like some sort of spicy aftershave. His dark purple button up shirt was immaculately pressed and tailored. “Can I buy you a drink?” Five minutes later, he'd coaxed her out on the dance floor. She wasn't especially attracted to him. She didn't have a real reason. He said the right things. He was ...
