... The words burned into my mind. Megan had convinced her to go away with her and I wouldn't know where. That's when the tears came, stinging as my eyes welled up. I found myself sobbing out loud, as despair crept in and the realization of what had happened hit me. Everything I had hoped for was washed away, gone. My plans for a future with Lucy were as far away as could be. I slumped to the floor, clutching Lucy's note in my hand, reading it over and over in hopes that the words would change and that this was just an illusion. But they didn't change. This really was happening and I was powerless to prevent it. My deepest fears had come true. I had lost everything. I couldn't hold back the tears now and they poured down my face as I cried all night long, until sleep took over.
