... At this writing, we all are in our early 50s. s****r has been a widow for 3 years, her husband, Joe, passed away early. You can stay with us for a while until you find a place of your own.” s****r said “But I would be 1200 miles from my c***dren and grandk**s. I will not move THAT far away.” Since the phone is a speakerphone, I said “You are welcome here anytime. We kept daughters room up in case she or someone else visits. Stay as long as you want.” She said “Let me get some plane tickets and I will call you with the details.” About a week later, she was at the arriving flights section, and we took her home with us. She said “Besides visiting my k**s, this is my first trip away from home since Joe passed away.” I said “You are among friends here.” Since it was dinner time, we got take-out and went home. I put some wine on the table, in a serve yourself manner. s****r and wife were jabbering back and forth, catching up, so I went into the great room and sat down with bourbon on the rocks. The girls came into the room, and asked me for a drink like mine. I poured and served them. There was small talk for a while, a refill of bourbon, and all were beginning to “loosen up”.
