Irony can be a strange thing. A day of celebration for promises kept, turned out to be a day where promises were broken. A clear sky filled with dark scandalous clouds that blocked any ray of hope or redemption. Jessie lay sleeping but not resting for a nightmare tormented her. It was a nightmare that would not go away when she woke. Events of her seventh wedding anniversary haunted her and they would play over and over in her mind. It was a just after twelve and she was famished. She heard the two giggle signifying the finish of their reunion as she placed two frozen pizzas into the oven. Jessie moved to the end of the counter that separated the kitchen from the living room. “Miss… you are… shaven!” a surprised Walter said. “We did it this morning!” Jessie felt herself blush listening to the conversation. How different their relationship was. They were like no other couple she had ever known. At that moment, Jessie felt that she was intruding into an intimate private conversation.
