1. Prisms

If the moment arrives where our hands unclasp, I would rather see you leave without a word, to never once glance back at the embers covering me as you exit. I would memorize everything, dissect every syllable and pause when your eyes could no longer meet where mine have always remained. Looking for possible codes and clues, buried like poisoned roots spreading. Turning every hallway in the home we made into haunted corridors, each window a lifeless shiny prism, your eyes becoming like that framed glass. Reflecting every object and being, but I cannot see beyond to anything inside where fires once so recklessly danced, and each burning ribbon consumed me. If the moment arrives where our love unchains, I would rather see you break us all at once, to never once listen to the fragments raining over me as you exit. I would memorize everything, each specific snapped link, try to torch and shape them together, even though it's nothing more than building a phantom that may always remain. A poisoned root strangling codes and clues, growing like vines around the home we made. Covering the beautiful prisms we could once peer entirely into, reflecting beings that no longer know how to look beyond to anything inside. Eyes consumed in the moment where all you can do is exit.
