Joe, Brad and Mike eagerly gathered around the cash register at Mocha's Latte across the street from Starbucks. This was their last shift before they went home from college for spring break. This was also their last chance to take a run at the uppity blonde bombshell who always came in at 10:30pm and left promptly at 10:50pm. Closing time was 11pm. No sense staying open later than that, all the late night customers went to Starbucks. The plan was simple, foolproof. They would slip a powerful drug in her latte. Joe had paid a hundred bucks for the drug earlier that day. It was guaranteed. She would be out like a light and the boys could do anything they wanted with her. One hour from now they would have her to do with as they pleased. The drug dealer guaranteed she would have no memory of the incident. Totally foolproof. Or, so they thought. WuMei Zhou was excited. Her boss, Benny, at Benny's Pizza had just given her a $0.25 per hour raise. Her first raise in 3 years. He told her it was because she did good work. Actually, it was because the state had just raised the minimum wage by $0.25. Since it was a slow day, he even told her she could go home at 10pm instead of 11pm. That meant she only had to work 12 hours today. She came to America 3 years ago, 40 yrs old, couldn’t find a good job and her husband was refused entry because he did something stupid back in Shanghai. ... She called one of them, Ling Zhong, and they agreed to celebrate. They would go to a local coffee shop and have a latte. They met outside a little place called Mocha's Latte and checked their purses to make sure they could afford to celebrate. WuMei still wore her black skirt, white starched blouse and black bow-tie that she wore at Benny's. Ling wore a brown waitress uniform from a restaurant a few blocks away. At Mocha's Latte, the college boys eagerly waited for the blonde bombshell. Brad would make sure he put her latte in a red mug so they wouldn't accidentally give the spiked drink to the wrong person. Not that there was likely to be a wrong person. The place was deserted. Right on cue, the blond bombshell entered, walked haughtily to the counter and ordered her usual latte. Brad got out a red cup poured the drug in and set it aside for Joe to make the latte. Right after this, WuMei and Ling entered, went to the counter and ordered one latte to share.
